STRATFORD Town suffered a 4-2 defeat against a young West Bromwich Albion side to exit the Birmingham Senior Cup.

Goals from Dan Lafferty and Tom Solanke kept the Bards in the contest before the Baggies sealed their place in the next round late on at the Arden Garages Stadium.

The defeat means Stratford exit the competition at the second round stage.

West Brom raced into a two-goal lead courtesy of goals from Harry Whitwell and Eseosa Sule.

However, Stratford halved the deficit when Lafferty found the net.

The Baggies restored their two-goal cushion before the break as Sule picked out the top corner.

Stratford responded again in a frantic first half as former Albion academy graduate Solanke smashed home from the edge of the penalty area.

However, West Brom struck again in the final 10 minutes as substitute Akeel Higgins curled a shot into the bottom corner.

Stratford are next in action against Stamford on Saturday, December 14 with kick-off at 3pm at the Zeeco Stadium.
