VETERAN striker Leroy Lita came back to haunt former club Stratford Town as the Bards drew 1-1 with Barwell.

Lita levelled the game for the visitors just past the hour mark after Lewis Ludford-Ison put Stratford ahead at the Arden Garages Stadium.

The result means the Bards sit fifth in the Southern League Premier Central table, five points behind leaders Kettering Town.

Stratford almost took the lead when Callum Ebanks saw his thunderous effort come back off the underside of the crossbar.

However, the home side eventually broke the deadlock on 21 minutes as Ludford-Ison fired a shot through a crowd of bodies from the edge of the penalty area following a scramble in the box.

Barwell equalised against the run of play on 62 minutes when former Premier League striker Lita beat the offside trap and Jake Weaver in the Bards net.

Stratford are next in action away at Royston Town on Saturday, November 2 with kick-off at 3pm at Garden Walk.
