STRATFORD Town ended their three-game goal drought in a 1-1 draw away at play-off hopefuls Leiston.

The Bards finally found the net at Victory Road as Lewis Ludford-Ison cancelled out Eddie Jackson’s opener.

And the result means Stratford sit 13th in the Southern League Premier Central table with the Bards winless in their last seven league matches.

Stratford dominated first-half proceedings with Leiston pinned inside their own half for long periods.

The Bards went close on 35 minutes as the Leiston goalkeeper scrambled across his goal to deny Henry Landers while Josh Hawker saw his follow-up blocked.

And Dan Lafferty then saw his effort smothered by a combination of defender and goalkeeper after good work from Josh Toluwaloju.

Leiston almost snatched the lead early in the second half when the bounce of the ball deceived the Stratford defence only for Willie Clemons to hit the post when through on goal.

And the home side took the lead on 58 minutes as Jackson headed home after Jake Weaver could only parry Joao Rangel’s initial shot.

However, the Bards equalised six minutes later when Ludford-Ison blasted a powerful effort into the net from 25-yards out.

Stratford are next in action against Halesowen Town on Tuesday, March 10 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Arden Garages Stadium.
