STRATFORD Town drew 1-1 with Leamington in the first Warwickshire derby of the season after losing 4-3 to Leiston in a seven-goal thriller.

The Bards took the lead against rivals Leamington through Riley O’Sullivan’s goal only for Charlie Dowd to see red soon after and Jack Edwards to equalise at the Your Co-Op Community Stadium.

That came after Gavin Hurren’s side played out a seven-goal epic with Leiston as Liam Daly opened the scoring for the Bards only for the visitors to score four unanswered goals either side of the break.

However, Dan Lafferty and Jack Storer both struck in the space of six second-half minutes to set up a grandstand finish although the Bards were unable to find an equaliser at the Arden Garages Stadium.

The results mean Stratford sit 14th in the Southern League Premier Central table after six matches.

Stratford are next in action at home to Spalding United on Saturday, September 2 in the FA Cup with kick-off at 3pm at the Arden Garages Stadium.
