FOOTBALL - Stratford surrender lead in Cheltenham defeat

Stratford Editorial 15th Jul, 2022   0

STRATFORD Town surrendered an early lead as they were edged out 2-1 by League One side Cheltenham Town in a pre-season friendly at the Arden Garages Stadium.

The Bards started on the front foot and took the lead after just nine minutes when Will Dawes tapped home from close range after Jack Storer’s initial free-kick had smashed against the crossbar.

However, Cheltenham drew level in first-half injury time when Dylan Barkers forced the ball home after Stratford failed to properly clear their lines.

And The Robins completed the turnaround on 52 minutes when Southampton loanee Dan Nlundulu grabbed the winning goal with a simple finish.

Stratford host Leicester City TONIGHT (Friday, July 15) with kick-off at 7.30pm before playing Oxford City on Saturday, July 16 with kick-off at 3pm.

Both matches will be played at the Arden Garages Stadium.
