SPORTING Club Inkberrow secured their first win at step six with a huge 6-2 victory away at Long Crendon following an opening day defeat at Moreton Rangers.
Tom Emblem and Nathan Benson both scored twice with Max-Emilios Angelides and Declan Green also on target in the win against Long Crendon at Velocity Stadium.
That came after Inkberrow suffered a 1-0 defeat at Moreton in their season opener despite dominating large parts of the game at London Road.
The results mean Inkberrow sit sixth in the Hellenic League Division One table after two matches.
Against Long Crendon, Inkberrow took the lead on 25 minutes as Emblem produced a powerful low finish into the corner after neat play by Green.
And the visitors doubled their lead just six minutes later as Benson superbly found the top-left corner from 22-yards out.
Inkberrow extended their lead five minutes before half time when Emblem grabbed his second of the game with a header at the near post from Angelides’ corner.
And Inkberrow struck again at the start of the second half as Benson doubled his tally for the game with a simple finish after his initial effort came back off the goalkeeper following a determined run by Green.
Long Crendon responded with two goals in the space of nine minutes just past the hour mark as Owen Cox and substitute Ryan Sagar both struck to halve the deficit.
However, Inkberrow scored their fifth goal on 75 minutes to take the game out of Long Crendon’s reach as Angelides produced a calm finish from the middle of the box.
And Green completed the scoring with a deserved goal as he finished off a flowing team move at the back post from Louis Crook’s pass.
Inkberrow are next in action away at Abingdon United on Saturday, August 12 with kick-off at 3pm at Northcourt Road.
