CALLUM Ebanks rescued a point for Stratford Town on his return to the starting line-up in a 1-1 draw against Lowestoft Town.

Ebanks levelled the game on 76 minutes after Kyle Haylock’s early goal put Lowestoft ahead at the Arden Garages Stadium.

And the result means Stratford sit fourth in the Southern League Premier Central table.

The Bards made a blistering start as Ebanks blazed Jack Storer’s inviting cross from the right over the crossbar from close range.

And Charlie Williams then took the ball around the goalkeeper only for Lowestoft stopper Daniel Cullum to recover and make a crucial save.

The visitors made Stratford pay for those missed chances when Haylock broke the deadlock on eight minutes with a chip over Bards goalkeeper Jake Weaver.

Gavin Hurren’s side went close again later in the first half as Ebanks headed against the crossbar.

The Bards controlled the game after the break and deservedly drew level on 76 minutes as Storer played in Ebanks who coolly found the back of the net.

The home side twice hit the crossbar in the closing stages but were unable to find a winner on a frustrating afternoon.

Stratford are next in action against Barwell on Tuesday, October 22 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Arden Garages Stadium.
