EARLSWOOD Town failed to end their winless run in the league after slipping to a 2-0 home defeat against Coventry Alvis.

The Earls are now winless in their last six league matches after goals in either half from Jack Low and Elliot Edwards condemned the home side to defeat at The Pavilions.

And the result means Earlswood sit eighth in the Midland Football League Division Two table.

Alvis took the lead on 17 minutes when Low poked home past Earlswood goalkeeper Ethan Pheasey from Kieran Martin’s square ball.

The Earls went close to a leveller as debutant Gabriel Henderson saw his curling effort from just outside the penalty area easily saved by Carl Walton.

And the home side tested the Coventry goal again early in the second period as Oliver Gee saw his header towards the bottom right corner cleared off the line by a wall of Alvis defenders.

However, the visitors sealed the points on 75 minutes when Edwards produced a clever flick to turn a driven cross past Pheasey

The Earls thought they had reduced the deficit late on when Danny Black’s shot appeared to cross the line only for the referee to wave play on much to the surprise of the home players.

Alvis finished the game with nine-men as both Jacob Dodds and Abdul-Aziz Muhammed saw red for time wasting and dissent shortly before the final whistle.

Earlswood are next in action away at Bolehall Swifts on Saturday, December 2 with kick-off at 3pm at Rene Road.
