FOOTBALL - Bards pegged back in draw at Coalville before defeat in Senior Cup

STRATFORD Town were thrashed 4-0 by West Bromwich Albion in the Birmingham Senior Cup having drawn 1-1 away at Coalville Town last weekend.

The Bards were no match for a young Baggies side in midweek as Jovan Malcolm scored a hat-trick and Akeel Higgins struck late on to inflict a heavy defeat on Gavin Hurren’s side at the Arden Garages Stadium.

That came after Paul McCone’s 28th-minute goal looked to have secured an impressive win away at Coalville only for Eliot Putman to equalise 10 minutes from time after Josh Hawker had been sent off for two bookings.

The result means Stratford sit 17th in the Southern League Premier Central table.

Stratford are next in action away at Mickleover on Saturday, November 19 with kick-off at 3pm at the Don Amott Arena.
