STRATFORD Town fell to a fifth successive league defeat after the Bards were beaten 4-2 away at Royston Town to remain in the relegation zone.

Gavin Hurren’s side were two goals behind inside half an hour courtesy of efforts from Kian Harness and Shomari Barnwell before Hamilton Bunga reduced the deficit.

However, Matthew Bateman netted for Royston in first-half injury time only for Jamie Molyneux’s 84th minute goal set up an exciting final six minutes.

Royston eventually sealed the win with one minute left to play as Connor Furlong restored the home side’s two-goal lead in an entertaining affair at Garden Walk Stadium.

The result means Stratford sit 20th in the Southern League Premier Central table, seven points from safety with two games in hand on the team directly above the relegation places.

Stratford are next in action at home to Leiston on Saturday, January 21 with kick-off at 3pm at the Arden Garages Stadium.
