FOOTBALL - Bards beat Bromsgrove after draw at Kings Langley

STRATFORD Town put four past Bromsgrove Sporting to claim their second win of the season after they were denied at the death away at Kings Langley over the bank holiday weekend.

The Bards twice came from behind to see off a spirited Sporting side as Josh Hawker, a Michael McGrath own goal and further strikes from Paul McCone and Dexter Walters secured the points late on at the Arden Garages Stadium.

That came after a frustrating 1-1 draw at 10-man Kings Langley where Adam Rooney opened his Stratford account only for the home side to level deep into injury time.

The results leave Stratford in 10th place in the Southern League Premier Central table after six matches.

Stratford fell behind to former Bards man James Fry on 16 minutes against Bromsgrove only for Hawker to equalise less than a minute later when he tapped in from close range.

However, Sporting regained the lead through a Dan Sweeney penalty on 57 minutes as Stratford once again hit back immediately when McGrath put through his own net.

And the Bards eventually took the lead on 81 minutes through McCone’s header before Walters made sure of the victory five minutes later with an emphatic finish.

Stratford are next in action away at Cleethorpes Town on Saturday, September 3 in FA Cup First Round Qualifying with kick-off at 3pm at The myenergi Stadium.
