Duo claim series victories

Stratford Editorial 22nd Feb, 2018   0

THE LAST event in the five-race Tempo 10k series took place in the best weather conditions so far and Stratford Athletic Club once again produced a great showing across the board.

Chris Cond finished in a strong fifth (40.57) to give him a win in the series for age group 35 and an in-form Ivan Sarti romped home seven seconds behind in sixth (MV 45 winner on the day) to take the M45 series prize which was very hotly-contested throughout the winter.

Matt Burduss-Cook is running better than ever and was seventh (41.25) on the day (2nd M35 series).

Not too far behind came the next trio – Andrew Cox (43.04) Malcolm Bowyer (M55 winner on the day, 43.13) and David Smyth 43.36 (2nd M45 in the series) – in 14th, 15th and 16th respectively.

The cheerful James Cusack and improving Owen Goshen were 19th and 20th, with the latter the third SAC runner in the top five of the M45 category for the series.

Martyn Austin, nursing an injury, was pleased to be 35th and returning to fitness Sam Nicholson was 65th (51.56). Daniel Whittington came in 91st (57.32).

Lynne Hinson was the first of the Stratford women home in tenth (49.18) and Suzi Graham ran well to be 17th (53.56).

Rebecca Pridham was delighted with her final run of the season to be 30th in 56.39 and another solid performance from the smiling Gemma Smith in 71st (1.08.52) brought the team home.
