Deserved tennis accolade for dedicated Steve

THE SOUTH Warwickshire Summer Tennis League recently presented a top administration award to Steve Righton of Stratford Tennis Club.

The honour was the ‘Millennium Scroll’ for the best individual administrator of 2014 in the Wildmoor Spa men’s league and was presented by the league secretary Corin Bishop whose personal choice was Steve.

A teacher at Henley-in-Arden School for 32 years, Steve has been club captain at Henley-in-Arden Tennis Club, team captain at Snitterfield and B team captain of his current club Stratford.

He has also organised Stratford’s veterans team and still plays regularly for Stratford, whilst also being a keen golfer at Stratford Golf Club.

His top tip is “organise events in a way that you would want others to organise them”.

On the league front, Steve came on to the committee as Division Five Organiser in 2010 – the year this division was formed. After two years he took over the running of the Premier Division when the secretary stepped down from this role and he still runs this division now to great effect.
