ARCHIE Walker has been named Stratford-upon-Avon Cricket Club’s player of the month for April.
The bowling all-rounder has been rewarded for an electric start to the season with impressive performances against both Handsworth and Sutton Coldfield.
Walker conceded just 17 runs in a seven-over spell against Handsworth at an economy of 2.43 the lowest of any Stratford bowler.
And he also impressed with the bat as he scored 26 not out from 31 deliveries at a strike rate of 83.87 as Stratford began the season with a five-wicket defeat.
Walker showed his skill with the ball again against Sutton Coldfield as he returned 1-16 from nine overs before the game was abandoned due to bad weather.
The award was sponsored by Hussains – an Indian restaurant located on Chapel Street.
Stratford’s head of cricket, Josh Hickman said: “We are thrilled Hussains are supporting us with April’s player of the month award.
“The restaurant is a popular eatery amongst our members and they’ve been great supporters of the club over many seasons.”
