WARWICKSHIRE CCC headed to Stratford-upon-Avon Cricket Club for a community fun day and T20 match against a Warwickshire Cricket League XI.

Members of the Warwickshire team provided Stratford’s junior players with top-tier coaching while a softball festival took place alongside a training session led by lead coach Rob Eynon at the Stratford Access Hub.

That was followed by a T20 game between the Bears and a Warwickshire League XI.

Warwickshire posted a huge 270-7 from their 20 overs as Hamza Shaikh (59) and Rob Yates (52) both scored half centuries.

After losing opener Theo Wylie (6), Jake Lintott (44) and Chris Benjamin (30) scored some quickfire runs as the Bears looked to put on a show.

Shaikh and Kai Smith (29) then combined for an 80-run partnership off just 31 balls.

Smith hit two fours and three sixes before he departed while Shaikh pressed on to reach his half century, hitting three fours and six sixes along the way.

Yates then came to the crease to score a half century of his own in just 17 balls which included five fours and four sixes.

In reply, the Warwickshire XI finished on a credible 138-8 as Hassan Farooq (29 not out) top scored while Stratford’s Osian Catlin (14) hit two fours in a useful knock.

The day proved a fun experience for all.
