Battle continues between Corder and rival

Stratford Editorial 29th Nov, 2016   0

THERE was another fascinating duel between Stratford Cycling Club’s Spencer Corder and national under 12 mountain bike champion Max Greensill in the latest West Midlands cyclo-cross meeting.

Having seen Corder triumph in the last meeting, Lichfield’s Greensill was not going to take defeat lying down and was gunning for revenge in Wolverhampton.

The lap times tell the story as for six of the eight laps the pair clocked the same time and there was never more than a second between them.

Corder had the final say as he won by a second and he was joined by team-mates Lewis Tinsley (6th), Alex Burden (11th), Joe Gregg (23rd) and Ellis Brown (31st).

Harriet Tinsley finished 28th and was fifth in the girls’ section.

Reuben Child continued to demonstrate his determination as he finished third in the under six event and in the under eight event Finlay Child was first Stratford rider home in fourth place, followed by by Ruben Stringfellow in fifth.

Connor Murphy finished 18th in the under 16 event, while in the under 14 event Baden Green was 18th, followed by Tom Charles in 22nd.

In the 45+ race Ian Tinsley again showed consistency to finish 12th and Danny Murphy was 26th.

Nigel Jones remains the top Stratford senior rider after finishing fifth in a field of 95 in the 55+ age group.

Carl Max Taylor was 16th in the 50+ group, followed by Robin Corder in 26th.
