STRATFORD-upon-Avon Athletic Club’s junior runners took part in round one of the West Midland Young Athlete Cross Country League at Walsall Arboretum.
In the under-17 women’s race, Stratford’s Annie Silvers placed 24th in 15 minutes 57 seconds with Brooke Rossney 42nd in 17 mins 35 secs and Hannah Wilkinson 51st in 20 mins 31 secs respectively.
Next to race were the under-11 boys as Albert Moore placed 25th in 6 mins dead with Rafe White 44th in 6 mins 18 secs, Dexter Sharpe 46th in 6 mins 19 secs, Dylan Turner 52nd in 6 mins 22 secs, Reuben Wheeler 79th in 6 mins 48 secs, Luca Armstrong 81st in 6 mins 51 secs and Simon Zawada 95th in 7 mins 9 secs.
The longest race of the day came in the under-17 men’s event which took place over 4,800m.
Stratford runners Sam and Zak Lambert impressed as the former finished second in 14 mins 33 secs with the latter further back in sixth in 15 mins 2 secs.
Next to finish for Stratford was Will Mayes in 11th in 15 mins 19 secs followed by Tom Fisher 12th in 15 mins 23 secs, James Day 22nd in 16 mins 2 secs and also James Mayes 29th in 16 mins 31 secs.
In the under-11 girls race, Elsie Pipitone ran strongly to finish 11th in 6 mins 3 secs followed by Saskia Atkins 58th in 6 mins 59 secs, Marnie Short 61st in 7 mins 2 secs, Poppy West 63rd in 7 mins 6 secs, Indigo Storm Ogilvie-Putt 78th in 7 mins 30 secs and Imogen Jolly 79th in 7 mins 36 secs.
And in the under-15 boys race, Joel Ledgard finished an impressive sixth in 10 mins 8 secs with Will Hovell seventh in 10 mins 11 secs and also Arthur Williamson 19th in 10 mins 40 secs.
In the under-13 girls race, Amelie Marshall placed 14th in 9 mins 31 secs with Maggie Silvers 19th in 9 mins 34 secs, Lyla Turner 32nd in 9 mins 55 secs and Jasmine Mothershaw 47th in 10 mins 15 secs.
The under-13 boys race saw Stratford’s Robin Gallagher place 10th on debut in 8 mins 33 secs with Charlie-Jay Cassells 42nd in 9 mins 14 secs and Toby Wilkinson 46th in 9 mins 24 secs.
Last to race were the under-15 girls as Marijke Tear-Verweij finished a strong seventh in 11 mins 25 secs followed by Elle Weir 34th in 12 mins 51 secs, Lois Ford 37th in 12 mins 54 secs and Rachel Sparrow 59th in 13 mins 37 secs.
