STRATFORD-upon-Avon Athletic Club’s junior runners took part in the third race of the West Midland Young Athlete Cross Country League season.
The third meeting of the season took place at Pingles Stadium in Nuneaton as the course passed an early inspection following the disruption caused by Storm Darragh.
Despite fallen trees and debris laying in close proximity to the track, race officials confirmed the event would go ahead as planned.
Pingles provides a mostly flat course although the soft and slippery ground made conditions challenging for the runners along the route.
Stratford fielded a strong team of under-11 to under-17 athletes and had 48 finishers, including six full teams out of eight races.
And two of the club’s athletes secured top-five finishes as Sam Lambert placed third in the under-17 men’s race in a time of 16 minutes and 17 seconds.
A strong performance from William Hovell saw the Stratford runner finish fourth in the under-15 boys’ race in a time of 11 mins 33 secs.
Stratford finished fifth on the day out of 21 clubs in an impressive overall performance across the age groups.
