ATHLETICS - Stratford athletes tackle inaugural Kingfisher 10k

Stratford Editorial 10th Nov, 2022   0

STRATFORD AC athletes took on a new addition to the racing calendar as more than 550 runners competed in the Redditch Kingfisher 10k.

The race took place in mild conditions under clear skies and started with two kilometres downhill followed by a relatively flat route that made its way through Arrow Valley Park.

However, the final two kilometres were uphill and sapped every last bit of energy out of the runners whilst some athletes at the front of the pack took a wrong turn which added an extra 400 metres to the distance.

First to cross the line for Stratford was Max Ross in 18th place in a time of 39 minutes 17 seconds closely followed by Rob Gisbourne who was 29th in 40 mins 39 secs and James Coy who took 33rd place in 41 mins 8 secs.

Next to finish for Stratford was Suzanne Ross in 107th place in a time of 47 mins 28 secs followed by Sarah Odell (195th in 51 mins 31 secs) and Susan Hunt (226th in 52 mins 31 secs).

David Maundrell finished the race in under one hour (246th in 54 mins 59 secs) whilst Karen Gisbourne and Emma Lee (363rd and 364th place in 1:01:02), Kate Sergent (416th in 1:04:40), Rosie Slocombe (528th in 1:14:23) and John Butler (544th in 1:18:03) completed the Stratford lineup.
