JOEL Masters won 200m bronze on his England debut at the Welsh Athletics under-20 International at Cardiff International Sports Campus.
Masters crossed the line in a rapid time of 21.91 seconds to take bronze for the under-18 team to crown an excellent season for the Stratford athlete.
The 15-year-old led the race until the final 30-metres but did enough to come away with bronze with his impressive performance seeing him promoted to run the first leg of the relay.
Masters ran a storming first leg in the relay only for a botched handover on the last leg to end England’s race.
The teenager returned to the track that same weekend at the England Athletics under-15/under-17 Open Championships in Birmingham competing against the best young athletes in the UK.
He qualified for the final in a time of 22.40 secs and took bronze in 21.91 secs matching his time at the Welsh Athletics under-20 International.
Masters said: “I’m pleased to have been on the podium throughout the season, it’s been a good year.”
Masters has enjoyed a stellar season after becoming Warwickshire county, Gloucester and South West schools and Midlands champion over 100m and 200m.
