CHARLY Marshall finished 24th overall representing Great Britain in the European Triathlon Junior Cup in Tabor, Czechia.
The 19-year-old Stratford-upon-Avon Athletic Club athlete finished in a time of 1 hour 8 minutes and 40 seconds to cross the line in 24th place.
The Junior Cup is Europe’s elite competition for under-20 triathletes. Marshall enjoyed one of her strongest career performances at the same event last year.
She left the 750m swim leg in the leading group and swam the distance more than a minute quicker than last year.
And Marshall produced a strong opening lap of the 20km bike stage which featured a number of steep ascents followed by rapid technical descents.
A large slide and near collision at pace saw her lose several places as Marshall completed the bike leg in 36 mins 25 secs.
Marshall managed a faultless transition into the 5km run which featured three circuits of a city course including 100m of ascent.
Completing the run in 18 mins 56 secs, Marshall came home in 24th place overall.
Marshall said: “I found it challenging working in the bike pack as there was no communication and it was difficult to predict the actions of other athletes.
“Having recently come off the bike at speed I was cautious to avoid a similar event.
“I’m pleased as this was a similar time to last year, with clear improvements on the swim and more European competition experience.”
