VOLUNTEERS are needed to help clean up Shottery Brook this weekend,
Stratford Rubbish Friends is joining forces with Severn Rivers Trust for a litter pick at the brook in Bishopton, Stratford on Sunday (March 17).
The physical pollution often found in watercourses – like crisp packets, plastic bottles, and even trolleys – will have an impact on the eco-system. According to the Rivers Trust, a huge proportion of plastic reaching the sea comes from rivers.
Cleaning up plastic at its source in freshwater habitats can prevent it from ever reaching the ocean.
Rubbish Friends will provide all the equipment and the bags of litter will be collected by Stratford District Council’s waste contractor Biffa.
The litter pick starts at 10.30am.
