ALCESTER Town Crier David Parkes joined the hundreds of others up and down the UK, the Channel Islands and Isle of Man today to proclaim the first anniversary of the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
David, who stood in the middle of High Street to read the historic announcement, admitted to feeling anxious before the event.
He said: “I felt very honoured to do this and quite nervous actually.
“All town criers throughout the nation would have said the same words today at midday.”
The words given to David for the royal proclamation had been specially written for the occasion and agreed with Buckingham Palace.
