CHAMPIONSHIPS in chainsaw carving and tree climbing are just some of the highlights of the UK’s largest timber show set to take place in Alcester.

The APF Show 2022 is the country’s largest woodland, tree and timber show and will be held on Ragley Estate from September 22 to September 24.

And the event looks to be anything but wooden, with the World Poleclimbing Championship, the European Chainsaw Carving Championship and the UK Open Tree Climbing Championship all set to take place over the three days, as well as the British Open Fencing and World Log to Leg Race competitions.

There will be over 300 exhibitors including 25 craftspeople in the woodlands crafts area demonstrating skills including clog making, willow weaving and pole lathe turning.

While there will also be a display of working machinery covering two and a half miles of the estate.

APF Secretary, Ian Millward, said: “If you have ever wanted to learn about and see what goes on in a modern working woodland then APF 2022 is the place to be. We have everything from seed to sawmill, from the chainsaw to the latest £400,000 state-of-the-art timber harvester. You can even have a go in a harvester simulator.

“We have some thrilling competitions you will not see anywhere else. It really is a great day out for the whole family.”

Tickets are available online for £21 or on the gate for £25 and children under 16 get in free.
