The annual mop fair set to descend on Stratford town centre

Stratford Editorial 26th Sep, 2022   0

WHIITE-knuckle rides, candyfloss and all the fun of the fair is set to descend on Stratford.

The annual Mop Fair returns on Tuesday October 11 and Wednesday October 12 and will transform the town centre into a thrill-seeker’s paradise.

Rides, including the 127-year-old Golden Carousel, as well as some more up-to-date offerings, whirr into life from 3pm on Tuesday and will keep the town buzzing until 11pm each night.

Chairman of Stratford District Council, Coun Mark Cargill will officially open the event at 11 am on Wednesday.

While other attractions include the traditional pig roast, provided by local Scouts at the end of Waterside along with the charity auction of the first slice. And new for 2022 – there will be a vegan option.

One of the biggest changes to the rides and attractions in recent years has been the integration of eye-catching LED displays. These super bright lights actually consume far less power than the old-style filament bulbs they replace.

And the runaway mop takes place two weeks later on Friday October 21 and Saturday October 22.

The town centre streets closed to accommodate the mop from 5am on Tuesday October 11 until 1.30am on Thursday October 13 are:

· Greenhill Street

· Rother Street (from Ely Street)

· Wood Street

· Union Street

· Bridge Street

· Windsor Street (from Mansell Street)

· Meer Street

· Henley Street

· High Street
