BANCROFT Gardens in Stratford has been officially declared green.
Stratford District Council is celebrating after the public park received a Green Flag award.
The site is one of 2,250 in the UK to achieve the accolade, which is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces.
The Green Flag Award scheme, administered by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, recognises the high standard of the facility and rewards the hard work of managers, staff and volunteers involved in the maintenance of the site.
Bancroft Gardens was assessed against criteria including safety, cleanliness, environmental management, biodiversity, and overall site management.
SDC’s grounds maintenance contractor, Krinkels UK Ltd, commitment to the site was instrumental in securing the recognition.
SDC’s environmental spokesperson Coun Lorraine Grocott said: “We are absolutely delighted that Bancroft Gardens has received the Green Flag Award. This achievement reflects the tireless efforts of our staff and contractors who work year-round to ensure our green spaces are safe, clean, and enjoyable for residents and visitors alike – for everyone.
“Our parks and green spaces are vital for our physical and mental well-being, offering perfect spots to connect with nature, exercise, and spend quality time with family and friends. It’s a wonderful recognition of the pride we take in our local environment.”
