THE GOOD work of Stratford Town Trust continued in 2024 to the tune of £1.2 million.
The charitable organisation awarded grants to a total of 147 local individuals, charities and community groups with a particular focus on bringing people together, young people, social isolation, mental health, sustainability, health and wellbeing.
Among the recipients this year were Paint Stratford, In2Theatre, Safeline, Stratford in Bloom, schools including Alcester Grammar School, Bishopton Primary School and Welcombe Hills School, and the RSC.
Cash also went towards projects in the town including restoration work on the Guild Chapel, boosting biodiversity at Stratford Nature Reserve and Rowley Fields and focusing on families by supporting groups such as Sonrisa Arts CIC and and Entrust Care Partnership.
Writing in the town trust’s annual report, Chief executive Sarah Aspley said: “At the town trust we see ourselves as an enabler either as a grant funder or by working in partnership with organisations who share our vision and values. This means that our work is varied and far reaching as we try to impact as many people as possible.
“I am determined that as a funder we will continue to support voluntary groups and charities with core funding, without which many services simply wouldn’t be able to function. As an example, this year core funding enabled Stratford Youth Collective, Escape Arts and The Shakespeare Hospice to continue to offer their vital services.”
