A MAJOR £250,000 refurbishment of the Recreation Ground in Stratford is complete.

The site was officially opened on Friday March 27, just in time for families to enjoy over the Easter Holidays.

It follows a £250,000 investment in high-quality, inclusive play equipment for youngsters aged one to 11. This includes over 75 play features with a forest and river theme, installed using EcoCore Panels.

The play area can take up to 150 users at any one time and includes a dedicated accessible sensory play area, a new shaded picnic area, and an improved padding pool with non-slip surfacing and water features.

There has also been enhanced landscaping throughout including newly laid grass areas, a revamped sandpit with running water, redecorated public toilets with a new boiler installed, and the relining of car parking spaces and zebra crossings.

Stratford District Council’s neighbourhood spokesperson Coun Lorraine Grocott said: “This project represents a significant investment in our community and provides a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable space for children and families to enjoy for many years to come.”
