MP MANUELA Perteghella is celebrating the Government’s decision to support the campaign to provide a travel fund for children and young people with cancer.
The UK Government has committed to a new £10 million travel fund, which will be transformative to the lives of young cancer patients.
The Stratford MP said: “I am proud to have campaigned for this and pleased that all families will now be given the financial support they need to fund travel for treatment.
“Getting a cancer diagnosis at any point in life is devastating, but most parents would rather it happen to them, than their children.
“Travel costs should not be something that parents have to fear when their child faces this daunting diagnosis.
“While the ultimate goal is that no child has to cope with cancer, it’s reassuring for families to know that travel costs are one thing they don’t have to worry about.”
