AN ECO-minded hotel in Stratford has received a coveted Green Tourism award.
The Arden Hotel was awarded Bronze in the Green Tourism awards, which recognise tourism businesses that are working to become more sustainable.
The hotel on Waterside appointed its first ‘Green Champion’ earlier in the year to lead on driving sustainability initiatives which make a difference across all areas of the hotel.
Some of the changes introduced include using more energy-efficient light bulbs, prioritising local produce in the kitchen, making its reception paperless, and introducing canned water in certain areas of the hotel over glass bottled water – which enters the recycling process far quicker.
The hotel team has also enjoyed collaborating with The Forest of Hearts during the past year, a nonprofit charitable organisation, creating gardens for good.
The hotel’s green champion and reception manager Jack Ray said: “Achieving a Bronze certification through Green Tourism is testament to our team’s commitment to be more sustainable.
“Change has been evident at The Arden Hotel across all departments, but it has been our ability to work together that has made these changes possible and allowed us to progress towards a more environmentally aware business.”
