Stratford hotel proving gin really does grow on trees

VISITORS to a Stratford hotel can help save the environment one gin at a time.

The Arden Hotel on Waterside has begun stocking a tipple with a difference at its No.44 Brasserie restaurant, working with British-based Sapling Spirits.

For every bottle purchased, Sapling Spirits will plant a tree as part of its wider mission to plant one million trees across the UK by 2027.

Green-fingered staff from the hotel recently supported the project by helping to plant some 1,000 native hedgerows in the Mendip Hills.

Those who purchase Sapling Spirits at the hotel will play their part too, with each bottle including a unique code which tells customers what tree has been planted from their purchase and where.

The scheme has already seen more than 130,000 trees planted since 2018 – from fruit trees in London to oak trees in Bristol – helping to create new woodlands for communities across the country to enjoy.

Jayne O’Malley, Group Operations Manager for The Eden Hotel Collection, was part of a team from The Arden Hotel who joined the tree-planting exercise.

She said: “We are proud to be working with Sapling Spirits and it is great news to have their gin and vodka introduced at The Arden Hotel for guests to enjoy.

“We’ve found it is already a popular option in the bar and restaurant as customers like to follow the journey of where the product has come from, and how their purchase is helping to plant a new tree.

“It is particularly important for us that any company we work with share our commitment to sustainability, which makes our partnership with Sapling Spirits a perfect match.”
