STRATFORD Foodbank has launched its first Christmas Appeal.
With demand for emergency food parcels continuing to rise, the foodbank is asking local people, businesses, and organisations to help ensure no one in Stratford goes hungry at Christmas.
Named ‘A Parcel of Hope’, the appeal aims to raise £4,000 for the foodbank. It tells the true story of ‘Joanna’ who fled domestic abuse with her daughter and found herself in Stratford. With the support of the foodbank she was able to find housing, manage her finances and start her life afresh.
Foodbank manager Asher Deakin said: “Christmas should be a time of joy and hope, but for families like Joanna’s it can be overshadowed by fear and uncertainty. When Joanna arrived in Stratford with nothing, the foodbank was there to provide food and practical support. Thanks to the generosity of our community, she found safety and dignity. This Christmas, your kindness can bring the same hope to others.”
