The amount residents will be asked to pay for a Band D property is £174.17 in 2026/27, an increase of £5.
This is an increase of 2.99 per cent, which for an average home represents an additional 42p per month to SDC next year.
This contributes to meeting the cost of providing a wide range of services including recycling and waste collection, planning, street cleaning, housing, housing benefits, leisure services and children’s play areas.
SDC receives 7.1 per cent of the council tax paid by residents. Warwickshire County Council receives the lion’s share of 76.6 per cent, the Police 12.8 per cent and towns and parishes 3.5 per cent.
SDC’s resources spokesperson Coun David Curtis said: “This budget continues the council’s commitment to support our most vulnerable residents and rural communities, and there are additional opportunities and support for young people, children and parents. Economic development is championed, and the council maintains its commitment to tackling the impact of climate change on our communities.”
