A FAMILY music and street food festival will be raising vital funds for a local hospice when it returns to Stratford in June.

StratFest, which will be held in the grounds of The Stratford Park Hotel and Golf Club, will be raising funds for The Shakespeare Hospice as its chosen charity.

The festival will be part of the south Warwickshire charity’s calendar of celebration events for its 25th anniversary year.

StratFest will be held for the first time since 2016 on Saturday June 1 with previous editions always having a focus on supporting local charities and causes.

The line-up will be announced soon and is set to feature the best of local talent, including bands, singers, DJs and more.

Local band ‘No Direction’ have agreed to play the festival free of charge and donate their fee to The Shakespeare Hospice’s fundraising appeal.

Beverley Haynes, general manager at The Stratford Park Hotel and Golf Club, said:

“We’re proud to be working with The Shakespeare Hospice as part of their 25th anniversary celebrations.

“Supporting local charities has always been at the heart of StratFest, alongside excellent entertainment and food. The Shakespeare Hospice provides outstanding care and support to patients and their families.

“The StratFest 2024 line-up is taking shape, we have some excellent street-food traders joining us and it is set to be a great day-out for all the family in June.”

The Shakespeare Hospice offers palliative and end-of-life care to patients, their families and carers across south Warwickshire. Their reach extends beyond the traditional hospice walls, providing expert support within their local community and patients’ homes.

The charity will have a stall at the festival during the day and is planning other fundraising activities which link into the ’25 Challenge’, which celebrates a quarter of a century of the charity by encouraging people to do something 25 times.

Alison Stone from The Shakespeare Hospice added: “This is essentially a year of celebration for the charity and a summer festival is the perfect addition to those celebrations.

“We have known the Stratford Park for a number of years. We spoke to them about plans for our 25th anniversary and it felt like a natural fit to be the charity partner for StratFest.

“It’s going to be a great event for all the family and we look forward to speaking to people about the work we do and how they can support us to continue to provide care at our hospice and support across the local community.”
