‘STAND-out’ A level performances have been achieved by King Edward VI School students.
At the school 82 per cent of papers were graded A* to B with 45 students achieving three A grades or better.
Impressive performances were achieved by Kit Gallagher and Oliver Gardner who each scooped four A* grades, William Richards who received three A* grades and one A grade, and Isabelle Brennen, Elliot Garside and Joe Wright who were each awarded three A* grades.
Headmaster Bennet Carr said: “Despite the well-publicised difficulties with curriculum reforms that have been rushed through, I support the aim to make A levels more rigorous and to ensure that they remain the gold standard. There is no doubt that this has resulted in courses which are more difficult and I am therefore delighted that our students have risen to this challenge quite superbly.
“They have done so with the outstanding support of their teachers and families and I send them my warmest congratulations, and wish all Old Edwardians the very best for the future.”
