THE RUBIK’S Cube isn’t a puzzle for one Leamington nine-year-old.

Leo Adams, from Cubbington, came third out of 150 contestants in his first ever national Rubik’s Cube competition recently.

It was held in Stevenage by the World Cubing Association and featured all age ranges from children to adults.

Leo completed a 2×2 cube in 2.4 seconds and a 3×3 cube in 24 seconds.

Leo got a Rubik’s Cube for his seventh birthday. None of his family knew how to crack it and so after two years of trying and numerous YouTube videos, Leo’s mum Katie Adams invited a friend who knew how to solve the cube over to show him how it was done.

That was just seven months ago and Leo has never looked back, already surpassing most British competing cubers solving times.

Proud mum Katie said: “To come third in his first ever comp at national level at the age of nine is amazing and it’s only the beginning. I think he’s a local cubing talent to watch and I think he did the local area proud.”

Leo has a second World Cubing Association competition arranged for May in which he will be competing again with the aim to beat his current personal best.
