Shipston mum's goal to provide bereaved parents with free keepsake kits

A MUM-of-two from Shipston aims to expand her baby keepsake business to help bereaved parents.

Emma Bishop and her husband Michael recently started selling copies of a baby hand and footprint book which Emma designed and self-published.

And now they have launched a crowdfunder campaign with the goal of raising £5,000 in 30 days to provide free bereavement hand and footprint kits to every neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and bereavement suite in the UK.

Each £5 kit, containing an illustrated print and ink pad, helps families create a lasting keepsake when saying goodbye to a baby.

Emma explained: “This project is inspired by Dexter, a baby who was stillborn in 2024. His mum reached out to me on social media when she came across our book, and said she would have loved to have had something like that when Dexter was born. Her words stuck with me so I have been working on this campaign in his memory.

“Our campaign launched on July 1 and is part of a national competition for female-led businesses being run by Crowdfunder and Muddy Stilettos, giving us the opportunity to win an additional £10,000 in funding — if we can rally enough community support.”

Emma and her husband are also looking for support from local businesses in the form of donations or help with producing the products.
