Santa Claus pays a flying visit to the Royal Priors shopping centre in Leamington

SANTA Claus was on a flying visit to the Royal Priors shopping centre in Leamington over Christmas, handing out presents to more than 600 excited children.

The event was run by Leamington Rotary Club and raised more than £1,000 for local charities.

Organiser Rotarian Colin Roberston said: “It was free to see Santa but many parents were very generous in making a donation, which will be distributed to very worthwhile local Rotary charities. Rotarians, of course, gave their time free.

“Over the weekend we saw more than 600 children and they all left clutching a small toy as a gift from Santa and with a big smile on their faces. Many children brought a letter which they had written to Santa, and, of course, Santa was thrilled and was able to immediately put his elves to work dealing with their requests,” he said.

Leamington Rotary Club, which is celebrating its centenary this year, holds a number of annual fundraising events for local charities, including the highly successful classic car show in the Pump Room Gardens and the Taste of Leamington dining experience.
