Resurfacing works to take place on Birmingham Road in Stratford this week

RESURFACING work is taking place on Birmingham Road in Stratford this week.

It is part of the scheme to improve the A3400 Birmingham Road corridor and address traffic issues around Stratford town centre. The project aims to reduce congestion and improve conditions for pedestrians and cyclists.

In order to minimise disruption and to help ensure the safety of residents, road users and the contractor’s operatives, these works are planned to be undertaken between the hours of 8pm and 6am.

Resurfacing between Bishopton Island and Buckingham Way takes place on Monday (July 28), works from Buckingham Way and The Ark Veterinary centre take place on Tuesday (July 29), between The Ark Veterinary centre and St Peters Way on Wednesday (July 30), between A46/Bishopton Island and Worths Way on Thursday (July 31) and between Worths Way and St Peter’s Way on Friday August 1.

Warwickshire County Council’s leader Coun George Finch said: “We are mindful of the amount of traffic on this route so have worked with the contractor to resurface roads at night, keeping disruption to a minimum. There may be some very short delays for residents to ensure their safety and we ask for their patience with these.

“As the scheme draws closer to completion, we look forward to more cycle and pedestrian use, and the long-term effect on the volume of traffic into town that this will bring.”
