She joined the BBC back in 1990 and, on International Women’s Day will be giving a talk about how her career started and the wide variety of programmes and presenters and interviewees that have kept her passionate about making radio for almost 34 years.

Lasting around 40 minutes followed by a Q&A session, Karen will be sharing some of her favourite stories from her career and sharing a look behind the scenes of what it takes to make interesting radio.

Karen said: “From the glamourous to the not so glamourous, I’ll be treating residents to a behind the scenes peek at some of the most loved radio shows, as well as some clips from presenters I’ve worked with.”

The talks are free of charge and open to the public, taking place at the below Inspired Villages Austin Heath, Heathcote, Warwick at 10am, and at Inspired Villages Great Alne Park, Great Alne, Alcester at 12.30pm
