Police cordon off Waterside in Stratford amid concern for woman's welfare

Stratford Editorial 10th Oct, 2023   0

A POLICE cordon remains in place at Waterside, Stratford following concern for the welfare of a woman.

The woman – who is in her 40s – contacted police at 6am today (Tuesday) in a distressed state to say she had woken up at the location and couldn’t remember how she got there or what had happened to her.

Detective Inspector Rich Simpkins from Warwickshire Police said: “Police were quickly on the scene to assist the woman who was clearly in some distress and is currently being supported by officers.

“One of the lines of enquiry we are following is that she may have been sexually assaulted either at the scene or another location.

“We’re currently working to piece together the woman’s movements prior to her waking up at Waterside.

“If anyone was in the area overnight and has any information that may help us I’d urge them to get in touch with us.”
