Plans for 350 homes and new medical centre in Wellesbourne recommended for approval

PLANS to build 350 homes and a new medical centre in Wellesbourne are being recommended for approval.

Developer Persimmon Homes is looking to build homes either side of Ettington Road on land owned by the Walton Estate.

They are also hoping to establish a new state-of-the-art medical centre on a site in Bridge Street – known locally as Dog Close – as part of a separate application linked to the homes.

The plans divided residents of the village when they were first tabled back in December.

But although the majority supported the medical centre plans as they argued the existing centre, Hastings House, was already at full capacity, they were concerned about how the cost of the new centre would be met.

Fears were also raised more housing would have a negative impact on the village’s character with some 30 letters of objection being penned to Stratford District Council.

But despite this, officers are recommending the application for the homes be given the green light subject to a number of conditions and a Section 106 agreement.

And the separate application for the £4million medical centre is also set to be given the green light by planning chiefs.

Both applications will be considered by councillors at a planning meeting next Wednesday (July 22).

*PLANS have been tabled for 35 homes in Moreton Morrell.

Developers recently applied to Stratford District Council for permission to build the homes on land off John Taylor Way.

The plans, which would include 35 per cent affordable homes, are currently undergoing a period of consultation with the application set to be considered sometime around September.

Residents have until July 27 to comment on the application at the district council’s planning website.
