PICTURE SPECIAL: Stratford Mop Fair rolls into town

Stratford Editorial 13th Oct, 2022   0

WHIITE-knuckle rides, candyfloss and all the fun of the fair descended on Stratford.

The annual Mop Fair transformed the town centre into a thrill-seeker’s paradise last week.

Rides, including the 127-year-old Golden Carousel, as well as some more up-to-date offerings, whirred into action on Tuesday (October 11)

While the official opening ceremony was performed by Chairman of Stratford District Council (SDC) Coun Mark Cargill on Wednesday (October 12). There was even a chance for town dignitaries to get themselves in a spin.

Other attractions included the traditional pig roast, provided by local Scouts at the end of Waterside, along with the charity auction of the first slice. And new for 2022 – there was a vegan option.

And for those dare-devils after another fairground fix – the runaway mop comes to the town on Friday October 21 and Saturday October 22.

The following streets will be closed from 5am on Friday 21 October until 6am on Sunday 23 October:

– Greenhill Street

– Rother Street (from Ely Street)

– Wood Street

– Windsor Street (from Mansell Street)

– Meer Street
