THOSE who made the ultimate sacrifice were in people’s thoughts at the weekend.

Hundreds turned out for the annual Remembrance Sunday parade and service on Sunday (November 12) in Stratford.

Townspeople joined servicemen and women past and present, together with civic dignitaries, to honour those who lost their lives in the service of their country, from the First World War battlefields in France to the war in Ukraine.

The civic procession made its way from the town hall in Sheep Street to the Remembrance Garden in Old Town for the Act of Remembrance – including the laying of wreaths and a two minutes silence.

The Remembrance Sunday Service took place at Holy Trinity Church.

The civic party, which included mayor Coun Kate Rolfe, then returned to the town hall for the march past and salute.

In Warwick, an Armistice Day service was conducted at the war memorial on Saturday (November 11).

This was followed by a Remembrance Day parade from the Court House to St Mary’s Church, where a Remembrance Service was held, on Sunday (November 12).

After the service, the procession gathered at the war memorial for wreath laying and a two minutes silence.

The formal parade then marched from Church Street around the town centre roads.
