FAMILIES spent a day down on the farm at Ragley Estate near Alcester.
For the second year, Ragley hosted a LEAF Open Farm Sunday, attracting around 1,700 visitors.
There were displays of farm machinery, animals and crops with experts from Ragley and other local businesses on hand to answer questions.
There were also demonstrations of traditional rural skills such as horse-logging and venison butchery. Children were entertained with hands on activities looking at soil, wool, leaves and seeds, with the LEAF Education team showing children how to make felt flowers, and looking at plants under a microscope.
Ragley Hall and gardens were also open for visitors to look round.
Over 1,100 of the visitors also took a tractor and trailer ride to see some of the crop planting, sheep and the farmyard, including its grain storage. Each tour was hosted by one of the farmers or estate staff, providing an informative guide to crops, farming processes and the important environmental work that goes on across the Ragley Estate.
