Phone boxes could be removed from across Stratford district

A NUMBER of phone boxes could be removed from across Stratford district.

BT has started a consultation to remove public payphone boxes in nine parishes.

The provider says use of the phones has declined by more than 90 per cent in the last decade and the need for payphones in emergencies is diminishing as nearly all of the country has mobile phone coverage.

Stratford District Council is now consulting residents on whether to agree to the removal, object or adopt the callbox for use by the community.

The parishes affected are Alcester, Bishops Tachbrook, Brailes, Henley, Kineton, Napton, Pillerton Priors, Southam and Stratford.

Visit www.stratford.gov.uk/btconsultation by Monday September 14 to respond to the consultation.
