Out-of-control bonfire spreads across field in Shipston

Laura Kearns 27th Jun, 2018

AN out-of-control bonfire caused a field to set alight in Shipston.

Firefighters were called to the field, which was full of hay, off the A429 Fosse Way in Darlingscote at around 5pm on Tuesday (June 26).

The land – around 40m by 20m – was ‘well ablaze’ after a bonfire spread across the site.

Hoses and beaters were used to put out the fire, which took around an hour.

A spokesman from Stratford Fire Station said: “Please be advised to avoid any sources of ignition during this hot period as fires can start easily and spread rapidly.”
