ORCHESTRA of the Swan, along with soloist David Le Page, are to make a live recording of Vivaldi’s masterpiece The Four Seasons to raise money for the Stratford Cancer and Eye Hospital Appeal.
The recording by the Stratford-based orchestra is being sponsored by a consortium of 15 local businesses, many of whom are part of www.SupportingStratford.co.uk, a crowdfunding community initiative led by DCS Group chief executive Denys Shortt.
The recording will take place at Alscot Park, a grade I listed mansion just outside Stratford, and all proceeds will go to the new £22million Stratford Hospital which will provide vital cancer and eye care for people in the district.
The appeal is aiming to raise £1million to provide everything from specialist chemotherapy chairs to iPads for the state-of-the-art new unit.
Mr Shortt said: “I had the idea for this CD after listening to David Le Page with the Orchestra of the Swan which was an amazing experience.”
“I am so grateful to these local businesses who have made this CD recording possible. Their help means that 100 per cent of the sale proceeds of the CD will be donated to the Stratford Hospital Appeal.”
The 15 sponsoring businesses are DCS, Enable, Alscot Estate, George Pragnall, Wheaton & Lamb NFU Mutual, Tappex, Perfect Personnel, Valpak, John Holman & Sons, Pertemps, Guy Salmon Land Rover, Murphy Salisbury, Barclays, Colgate, and Gillette.
The CD will be released before Christmas. Visit www.orchestraoftheswan.org/shop to buy and for further details.
