RURAL insurer NFU Mutual has supported charities across the country to the tune of more than £2.3million.
The firm’s branch offices across the midlands nominated 28 local charities in the region to receive a combined donation of just over £221,000 from a national £2.33million Agency Giving Fund launched by the Stratford-based head office.
From providing food parcels, donating to frontline health charities and enabling outreach mental health services to continue, the fund is making a difference to communities across the region.
One of the charities to benefit in the midlands was Staffordshire-based Oak Tree Farm Rural Project receiving a donation of £7,899.
Oak Tree Farm provides training and supported occupation for adults with learning disabilities, in a rural environment.
The charity’s chief officer Wendy Robinson said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive the donation. The money will go towards refurbishing the old toilet block and creating a staff room and quiet space. The old toilets are no longer fit for purpose and need replacing so the grant will make a huge difference to the team members, staff and volunteers who use them.”
