Man airlifted to hospital after being hit by train

AN ELDERLY man had to be airlifted to hospital after being hit by a train near Henley.

The man suffered severe arm and head injuries in the incident, which happened around 1pm on Sunday (December 18) near Henley railway station.

A paramedic crawled under the train to treat the man, who had to be anaesthetised before being taken by air ambulance to University Hospital Coventry.

Firefighters helped get the man to the helicopter by cutting a hole in the fence.
